Local scholarships are available for veterans and their family members from the DAV Salt City Chapter #43 Scholarship Fund.
Educational scholarships need to be applied for before March First for each year. High school seniors need to talk to your school's student counselors for help in completing applications.
Disabled American Veterans Salt City Chapter #43 Scholarship Fund
The Disabled American Veterans Salt City Chapter #43 Scholarship Fund honors members of the armed forces by providing scholarship support for the continuing education of U.S. military veterans and their descendants.
Eligibility & Selection Criteria
Applicant must be a veteran or the descendant of a veteran and a resident of Manistee County or graduate of a Manistee County school. Graduating seniors, non-traditional students, and college students that graduated from a Manistee County high school are eligible to apply; applicants must plan to enroll full-time at any two or four-year accredited college, university, or vocational/technical school. Academic performance and financial need are also considerations. Preference may be given to applicants who are Disabled American Veterans (DAV) or who have a parent or grandparent who is a DAV. Preference may also be given to children or grandchildren of members of a veterans organization (i.e.: DAV, Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion).
DAV Scholarships are applied for through The Manistee Community Foundation.
Application Form & deadline
Use the Manistee County Community Foundation's online Common Scholarship Application to apply prior to the March 1st deadline.
Students apply using an online Common Scholarship Application form; a single form allows applicants to be considered for all Community Foundation scholarships for which they may be eligible. Scholarship awards will be announced at high school award ceremonies.
Apply for a Scholarship Note: You will be asked to create an account through SmarterSelect. This will enable you to save your work along the way and complete the application in more than one session as needed.

The Community Foundation is proud to play a part in the success of our County’s students. During 2016, the Foundation awarded scholarships to 40 students, including renewals, which represents commitments over the next four years of $30,300.
